Results of the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on December 8

On December 8, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, at which the results of the government’s work for 11 months of 2023 were summed up.

Key indicators of the socio-economic development of the state were announced, and the activities of line ministries and departments were analyzed. Achievements in the field of international cooperation were noted, and priorities for further work on the sustainable progressive development of Turkmenistan were outlined.

Key figures for 11 months of 2023

GDP growth was 6,3%.

Product production across the country increased by 6,6% compared to the same period last year.

The volume of trade turnover increased by 9,9%.

The growth in production volumes in the agro-industrial complex amounted to 2,6%.

Electricity generation increased by 2,7%.

According to the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, the growth in agricultural production was 9%, industrial production 9,4%.

The growth in cargo transportation by all modes of transport was 3,9%, and in passenger transportation 5,1%.

The growth in the provision of services through the “Turkmenhowayollary” Agency amounted to 99%.

27 762 contracts were concluded at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan.

The Mejlis of Turkmenistan adopted 49 laws and 51 resolutions. Credentials were also received from 27 ambassadors of foreign countries.

The legal framework for international cooperation of Turkmenistan was supplemented by 250 signed documents.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan organized 26 exhibitions and 78 forums.

At international competitions, Turkmen athletes won a total of 739 medals of various denominations.

Legislation

The Mejlis of Turkmenistan is working on the preparation of bills, including a new edition of the Civil Code, legal documents on energy saving and efficient use of energy, as well as on hydrometeorological activities.

The international cooperation

The nomination “The Art of Ahal-Teke Horse Breeding and Horse Decoration Traditions” proposed by Turkmenistan was included by UNESCO in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Turkmenistan was unanimously elected to the Commission on Population and Development of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the period 2024-2028.

Agriculture

Farmers of Turkmenistan continue to care for wheat crops. Cotton harvesting is underway in all velayats, and sugar beet harvesting is underway in the Mary region. At the same time, land is being plowed for sowing next year’s cotton and agricultural equipment is being prepared.

Events

On December 14, Ashgabat and the velayats of Turkmenistan will host festive events on the occasion of the Day of Oil and Gas Industry and Geology Workers.
