On 14 February several streets were cordoned off as the festivities devoted to the opening ceremony for office buildings and a glass manufacturing plant were held in Ashgabat with the participation of the President.
Since early in the morning the motorways from Ashgabat to Choganly and back were cordoned off. Not only privately-owned cars and taxis but public transport was denied access to cordoned-off roads as a result of which residents failed to get to work on time.
Public sector employees were forcibly sent to participate in crowd scenes. According to correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”, for several hours the residents were forced to wait for the head of the state under the rain.
It should be mentioned that during the opening of “Taze zaman” village the Ashgabat residents were forced to participate in the festivities timed to coincide with the commissioning of new construction objects under freezing temperatures.
It has been previously reported that the opening of the glass manufacturing facilities was scheduled to be held on 7 February together with the commissioning of the residential village “Taze zaman”. However, for unknown reasons, the ceremony was postponed.
On 13 February the President discussed the plant performance at the meeting with the Chairperson of Turkey’s Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu.
The state information agency TDH reports that “the construction of the plant was completed and it was fully ready for the commissioning”.
