Residents of an Ashgabat district have no water supply on a hot summer day

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that on 10 July, 2019 residents of the district of Choganly did not have access to drinking water throughout the day.

They had not been informed about the water supply cut in advance. Those who contacted Aşgabatagyzsuw office (the municipal water supply department) were informed that the repair works were underway and the water supply would be restored soon.

The water supply was restored only in the evening.

Local residents are extremely discontent with the fact that they were left without any water for the whole day when the outside temperature reached +38 degrees Celsius. Those who own cars went to the Karakum canal to get some water for household needs. For drinking people bought water in plastic bottles.

Radio “Azatlyk” has previously reported that on 7 July the inhabitants of several apartment blocks located on Kemin street had the water supply cut off for the whole day because of the water pipe repair.

It should be emphasized that the heat wave has hit Turkmenistan and the air temperature is expected to rise in the coming days.
