The solemn ceremony to mark the opening of new social buildings, including 62 four-storey apartment buildings designed to house 3,064 families in Gurtly residential complex in western Ashgabat was held on Wednesday.
The celebrations in the west of Ashgabat were attended by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the country’s official media reports.
The apartments on an area of more than 90 hectares were designed and built by construction companies, members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
In addition to the apartment blocks, a bazaar, an Abadançylyk shopping and entertainment center, social service facilities, a school for 320 pupils and a kindergarten were opened in Gurtly. The complex also has sports and children's playgrounds and parking lots.
This social project was developed taking into account the sprawling borders of the main city of the country and the increasing number of its inhabitants. Today in this area of Ashgabat there is a modern road and transport network, a system of utilities to create maximum comfort for citizens, according to the report.
The laying of the foundation of this complex of buildings in Gurtly took place in October 2018 with the participation of honorary elders and representatives of the capital's administration.
