The capital’s Yyldyz Hotel has hosted the fifth Steering Committee meeting of the EU funded Project “Support for Further Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development in Turkmenistan (Phase III) SARD III”.
Among those attending the meeting were project coordinators for our country and the EU, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Nature Protection, Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
The SARD III Project aims to boost entrepreneurship in the agroindustrial sector and to adopt international standards and leading-edge technology under the Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2019-2025.
During the meeting, participants pointed out good progress of the project over last year’s eight-month period, and discussed the implementation of activities scheduled for the first half of 2019.
As noted, international experts had rendered support to local agricultural producers and organized study and business tours to Great Britain and the Netherlands to aid livestock farms in our country.
To share the acquired international expertise among local agricultural entrepreneurs, developed technical guidelines on fish farming, dairy farming, apple growing, and agricultural exports will be soon posted on the SARD Project website at www.sard3tm.org.
The meeting attendees highlighted that the SARD Project III, which is in line with the sector’s objectives, had facilitated the adoption process of European standards in agriculture of Turkmenistan, and would help to significantly expand exports of local agricultural products.
