Representatives of a number of Turkmen departments take part in online meetings

Representatives of the Turkmen parliament, the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, the Office of the Ombudsman, a number of ministries of Turkmenistan, as well as the State Committee on Statistics, and the State Committee on Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography took part in a video meeting today, the topic of which was the discussion of joint projects with the UN Children’s Fund ( UNICEF) in the coming year.

These projects, first of all, should improve the health of children, develop balanced nutrition programs and increase the level of social protection of the younger generation.

Action plans for 2021 are being developed as part of the implementation of the country programme of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNICEF for 2021-2025.

The role of frontier technologies in addressing climate change was discussed today by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, and the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, who took part in an online meeting of the Technology Executive Committee of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The event was organized by the UNFCCC secretariat based in Bonn, Germany.

Turkmenistan participates in a number of climate research programs, joint environmental projects, and carries out large-scale work on afforestation and protection of biodiversity; Ashgabat also hosts the Regional Center for Technologies related to climate change, working under the auspices of the United Nations.

Parliamentarians of Turkmenistan took part in a webinar organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which discussed the accessibility of medical services for population during the COVID-19, and the best practice of parliaments of other countries in this area.

The online meeting reviewed the implementation of the provisions of the adopted resolution of the IPU “Achieving Universal Health Coverage by 2030: the role of parliaments in ensuring the right to health”, and the best practice of countries in achieving universal health coverage, as well as the activities of foreign parliaments to ensure appropriate legislative framework

The participants of the event agreed that such webinars contribute to the strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties and the exchange of experience in the lawmaking.
