Today, a concert celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Galkynysh Turkmen-Austrian Symphony Orchestra has taken place in the Turkmen capital.
Founded on President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s initiative, the Turkmen-Austrian Orchestra is now highly-acclaimed in the musical world.
The past decade has seen four Viennese Balls that were a success and Culture Days of Vienna in Ashgabat, reciprocally organized performances by artists, and international festivals. The Galkynysh Orchestra was an inseparable part of the events.
Fans of the orchestra, whose repertoire includes the greatest works by classical composers, gathered at the Magtymguly Music and Drama Theater for the spectacular musical performance. Among those attending the event were heads and officials of the diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited to Turkmenistan, representatives of artistic circles, the mass media, and music enthusiasts of all ages.
The anniversary concert that took place after the official part was conducted by the long-standing artistic director of the Galkynysh Orchestra, Secretary-General of the Austrian-Turkmen Society, conductor Wolfgang Harrer.
The event featured Austrian opera singers Neivi Martinez and Andreas Jankovič. Soloists of the Slovak National Theater Marek Bobošík and Marta Nitranová delighted the audience with their virtuosity, flexibility and expressiveness.
Johann Strauss’s On the Beautiful Blue Danube Waltz’ brought the concert to a close. The audience greeted each item on the concert program with rapturous applause.
