Real Madrid won the UEFA Super Cup, beating Atalanta 2-0

Real Madrid players defeated the Italian Atalanta with a score of 2:0 in the UEFA Super Cup match, which was held at the National Stadium in Warsaw.

The winners' goals were scored by Federico Valverde in the 60th minute and Kylian Mbappe in the 68th minute. It was Mbappe's debut match for Real Madrid, after his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent. The French striker's contract with the Madrid club is for five years.

The victory was Real Madrid's sixth in UEFA Super Cup history, a new tournament record. The Madrid club surpassed Barcelona and Milan in the number of trophies, which won the Super Cup five times each. Real Madrid previously won the UEFA Super Cup in 2002, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2022.

Atalanta was competing in the UEFA Super Cup for the first time since winning the Europa League in the 2023/24 season.
