Rat-hunting tours gain popularity in New York city

The population of rats in New York has become more human - more than 10 million rodents live in the metropolis, writes “Komsomolskaya Pravda”.

New York city Mayor Eric Adams established a special agency to combat rodents, headed by a former schoolteacher, whom New Yorkers immediately dubbed the “Rat Queen”. The city council has also introduced new rules for the disposal of food waste, hoping that this will help reduce the number of rats in the city's backyards and sewers.

While officials struggle (mostly unsuccessfully) with the growing rat population, some residents amuse themselves by deliberately going to places where the number of rats is especially high. The organizers of special “rat tours” help them in this.

One of them, Kenny Bolwerk, started posting videos on TikTok that were filmed in different parts of the city where there are especially large crowds of rats. The viewers of his videos asked to take them with them next time, and now Bolverk leads tours of the quarters, especially densely populated by rats.
