Railroad hospital in Ashgabat to be demolished

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that preparations for the demolition of the railroad hospital in Ashgabat have been completed. The hospital premises and its territory have been cordoned off with construction fences featuring the logo of Gap Inşaat company.

Patients and healthcare practitioners were transferred to other medical institutions of Ashgabat. Medical doctors and nurses who have reached retirement age were asked to retire. Healthcare practitioners have been reassured that their services will most likely be in demand in the near future because of “the complicated global public health situation”.

Preparations are also underway to demolish residential buildings located near the Tekin bazaar, which will be replaced with the International Medical and Rehabilitation Centre.

Apartment blocks on Azadi street and Atamurat Niyazov avenue will be the first to be knocked down.Buildings and houses on MOPR street and “Kopetdag” stadium are also to be demolished.

“Chronicles of Turkmenistan” learned about the upcoming demolition of the hospital in July 2021. Later Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov was briefed that the International Medical and Rehabilitation Centre would be built instead.
