According to statistical data, more and more Ashgabat citizens and guests of the city use public transport services.Running along urban and suburban routes, modern bus and taxis have become a signature of modernized system of passenger transportation and quality of automobile transport services.
Almost one thousand vehicles enter urban and suburban routes of Ashgabat every day.The fleet of public transport of the capital includes buses Hyundai Super Aero City, Hyundai New Super Aero City, Yutong ZK 6129H, Yutong ZK 122119 and PAZ-32054 as well as taxis Toyota Corolla and Toyota Hiace which are used both in intercity and suburban routes.
More than 1.5 thousand buses and light vehicles have been bought from foreign automobile manufacturers for the last ten years for service of urban population.More 400 Hyundai All Super Aero City buses, equipped with eco-friendly engine, GPS and electronic payment system are planned to be procured shortly.
Opening of new living estates and expansion of city borders provided rapid development of transport and communication infrastructure of the city and modernization of the system of passenger transportation.
In this regard, new bus routes have been developed and open new bus routes.Their number has been increased by 30 percent for the last two years.At present time, 128 bus routes, where 69 only inside the city, have been developed for passenger transportation in Ashgabat, its outskirts and in direction to other cities.
The capital transport is also used on some routes as suburban passenger transportation is carried out for the distance up to 70 km.Passengers of public transport have wide range of beneficial tariffs.
Veterans of the Great Patriotic War and veterans of other wars, widows of war veterans, mothers with many children, disabled people of I and II groups as well as children up to seven years old are provided with free transportation.
In addition, retired people and school students are offered with discounted tickets.Bus and taxi transportation in Ashgabat are carried out by three facilities of Türkmenawtoulaglary Agency Ashgabat Urban Passenger Automobile Park, Awtomobil ulag hyzmaty Open Joint Stock Transport Venture and Ahalawtoulag Production Association.
At present time, total fleet of these facilities is around 1.4 thousand buses and 445 taxis.Their share in passenger transportation in Turkmenistan was more than one third from total amount in 2019.
Operation, technical services and maintenance cluster of urban and intercity passenger transport as well as association of driving schools with training centre is established along Ashgabat Dashoguz highway for improvement of public transport service to the population.
The complex would be able to accommodate around 3,000 vehicles.It will have training centre for simultaneous training of 335 drivers.Complex of automobile facilities, which are to play an important role in improvement of efficiency of transport system of the capital, is planned to be put into operation in April this year.
