A new issue (№4) of the annual magazine “Politika i obshchestvo” (“Politics and society”) for 2016 was published in late October 2017. As a rule, such magazines come out in the first half of the following year. For unknown reasons the printing of the issue was delayed.
It has become known “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”, employees of all government-run agencies were forced to buy the magazine as soon as it was released. Turkmenistan’s State Tourism and Sports Committee obliged athletes and coaches, including those who participated in the Asian Games to buy the magazine.
The magazine costs 60 manats ($17.14 using the official rate or about $8 at the “black market rate”).
The edition, which is considered to be scientific, has been published by the Presidential Archives in Turkmen and Russian since January 2014.
It should be noted that there is a mandatory subscription to specialized newspapers and magazines.
For instance, conscripts are urged to buy subscription for the newspaper “Esger” (“Warrior”) and the magazine “Goshun” (“Army”).
