Private houses to be demolished in the city of Khazar. Inhabitants to receive no compensation

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that privately-owned houses overlooking the sea in the Caspian city of Khazar on the peninsula Cheleken will be demolished.

On 7 February, 2021 officials from the municipal khyakimlik’s office informed the inhabitants that they would not be offered any compensation.According to the officials, banks can provide a mortgage to build new houses under favourable terms.

According to terms and conditions, the period for mortgage repayment will be 35 years instead of 30 years offered on regular terms.

Two-storey houses with an adjacent plot of lands are scheduled to be built in the vacant area. Their cost and period of construction have not been disclosed yet.

Residents of the houses, which are subject to demolition, have been advised to look for temporary accommodation or buy property in other districts of the city.
