Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov and Minister of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, Nurmuhammed Amannepesov held an online meeting with WHO regional Director for Europe, Hans Kluge.
The meeting participants discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, in particular, partnership to counter the spread of a new type of coronavirus infection (COVID-19).As is known, during the video meeting on August 7, WHO Director General supported the initiatives put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Upon completion of the videoconference meeting with Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the President of Turkmenistan gave relevant instructions to the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan on developing a dialogue with the relevant WHO structures.
In frames of instructions and the complex implementation of key tasks in the healthcare sector, the importance of intensifying international cooperation in the fight against the spread of acute infectious diseases was emphasized during the online meeting.
The current epidemiological situation in our country was evaluated and the implementation of the recommendations, provided by WHO experts, who recently visited Turkmenistan, was discussed.The meeting participants discussed the intensification of cooperation in the field of scientific diplomacy, the creation of the necessary conditions for a regular exchange of views between medical scientists, experts and specialists.
The Turkmen side confirmed the willingness to continue active cooperation with the World Health Organization within the framework of joint projects and programmes.
