Turkmenistan, having embarked on the industrialization and diversification of economy, welcomes the investments of Japanese partners, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said during a working meeting, Trend reports referring to Turkmen State New Agency.
The Turkmen president gave instructions to the relevant heads on building up the Turkmen-Japanese economic cooperation and investment activities, where oil, gas processing and industrial sectors are the priorities, as well as cooperation between financial and banking structures, small and medium-sized enterprises, in science and education spheres.
Meanwhile, a representative of the ITOCHU Corporation plans to visit Turkmenistan in the near future.
During the working visit of the Turkmen government delegation to Japan in October last year, eight documents were signed regarding the implementation of new joint projects.
The new contracts cover joint projects, including the construction of plants for production of ammonia and urea, for processing of natural gas and production of gasoline, and a workshop for production of phosphate fertilizers.
An agreement on cooperation and supply of the Komatsu excavation equipment and the Toyota vehicles to Turkmenistan was also signed with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
Japan implemented a number of big projects in Turkmenistan. They include construction of ammonia and urea plants in Mary region, industrial complexes in the Balkan region for production of polyethylene at the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries, urea fertilizers in Garabogaz city, polyethylene and polypropylene in Kiyanly settlement.
