In the run-up to Independence Day, which is celebrated in Turkmenistan on 27 September, several facilities intended for social and community needs were commissioned in the country. The President’s son Serdar Berdymukahmmedov attended some of the opening ceremonies.
2 high-rise apartment blocks accommodating 114 apartments were commissioned in Ashgabat on 19 September.
A new residential complex comprised of four apartment buildings was commissioned in the city of Turkmenabat.
Two new facilities, including a pasta making factory and a greenhouse were commissioned in Balkanabad.
On 21 September three residential apartment blocks were commissioned in Dashoguz.
It should be mentioned that President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov did not attend a single festive event timed to coincide with the opening of social facilities.
However, on 21 September a maternity home located in the village of Dushak, Kaakhkin etrap was opened by the President’s son, a member of Turkmenistan’s Parliament and Deputy Foreign Minister Serdar Berdymukhammedov.
The state information agency TDH reported that Berdymukhammedov Jr., who is a member of the Mejlis, “represents the interests of Akhal velayat inhabitants in the national Parliament”.
The best construction workers were awarded with the gifts on behalf of the President and an “UAZ 39629016” ambulance, popularly referred to as “bread loafs”, which had been manufactured in the 60-s, was presented to the maternity home.
The Turkmen media outlets last provided coverage on Serdar in July 2018 when he had presented the TAPI project in New York and met with the UN Secretary General as Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan.
