“We are aimed at creating a reliable energy, transport and communications system in this part of the Earth as an important and integral part of modern world economic relations”, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at the ceremony of commissioning new facilities power transmission and fiber-optic communication lines to Afghanistan and the railway in the IRA.
The development of energy and cross-border transport and communications systems is a pre-condition for the economic growth of our states, an important basis for improving the people’s wellbeing, creating additional jobs, attracting large foreign investments, the head of state specified.
According to the Turkmen leader, this work will also contribute to strengthening security in the region, creating a favorable political climate for interstate dialogue, increasing the effectiveness of joint efforts to control emerging threats.
The President highlighted such major projects as the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, power transmission and fiber-optic communication lines along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route, and the Lapis Lazuli Corridor.
Such projects are also of great importance for economic, industrial and trade cooperation on a continental scale. This is about the integration of resource and production capacities to bring goods and services to the Asia-Pacific region, the markets of Europe and the Middle East, the head of state noted.
We are at the beginning of a long journey”, Berdimuhamedov said, stating that many more projects will be carried out, no less significant, large-scale, opening up new opportunities for Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, and other countries.
