On Wednesday, February 24, in the Ashgabat city hall, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a session with the high-ranking officials on preparation to celebration of the 140th anniversary of the Turkmen capital.
Before the meeting, architectural and urban development projects, including those developed for the new Ashgabat City project and the 17th phase of the capital’s development at the bank of the Altyn köl Lake have been presented to the head of the state.
The projects of the Tashkent Park, of the buildings of the Turkmen National Conservatory named after M.Kuliyeva and other cultural, sports and social facilities have been also offered for review to the President.
It was reported on the progress of construction of the Magtumguly Fragi monument on the slope of the Kopetdag Mountains and development of surrounding territory as well as on the 18th phase of development in Kyoshi residential complex.
Projects presentation was followed by a session with participation of Deputy Prime Ministers Chairman of the Supreme Control Chamber, member of the State Security Council Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Shamuhammet Durdylyev, Myahrijemal Mammedova, Mammetmyrat Geldinyyazov, as well as the head of the city administration Yaztagan Gylyjov, who reported on course of preparation to celebration of the 140th anniversary of Ashgabat’s foundation.
It was reported on festive events that are being organized on the occasion of the anniversary date.In addition to the ceremonies for the commissioning of new facilities, a series of creative competitions, exhibitions, international online meetings, media forums, sports events are planned.
It was reported that on the eve of the City Day, on May 21, the results of the “Ashgabat Spring” short movie festival would be summed up.
We are proud by right with our beautiful Ashgabat, its modern success, magnificent architectural look, said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, having noted that 11 facilities of the Turkmen capital, which are distinguished with unique architectural design, have been registered in the Guinness Record Book.
At the same time, the head of the state has stated that there are many deficiencies in the activity for development of the city until now. In this context, a low quality of construction works control system, poor maintenance of clean conditions in the capital, its uninterrupted power supply, etc. have been mentioned.
The Turkmen leader said that more attention should be paid to creation of green zones, construction of sports and children playgrounds, their operational state, and in general to creation of conditions for comfortable and active leisure of people, provision of ecological wealth in the capital.
Addressing the participants of the session, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has noted that every respected supervising official has personal responsibility for the above-mentioned deficiencies. Coming over to the subject of coming 140th anniversary celebration of Ashgabat, the head of the state highlighted that this anniversary festivity has to be an unforgettable event in life of the citizens.
The President has also informed that awards would be presented to people who made significant contribution to the development of the capital on the threshold of the celebration, on May 24.
Groundbreaking ceremony of a new residential complex will be held in the northern part of Ashgabat on May 25.The opening ceremony of a new Karakum Hotel will be held on the same day.
