President of Turkmenistan demanded to reduce imports of food items produced in the country

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov demanded to reduce imports of food items produced in Turkmenistan. Relevant instructions were given at today's meeting of the Government, the Information Program "Watan" of the Turkmen Television reported.

The President of Turkmenistan stated that over the past four months, despite earlier instructions, the volume of some imported food products has increased. Potatoes, onions, garlic, fruits, flour, butter and other foodstuffs are among them.

“In this regard, work should be intensified to increase the production of domestic consumer goods and reduce the volume of imports of products, in particular, food items that can be produced in our country,” Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.

Emphasizing the need to take measures in this direction, the head of state addressed a number of relevant instructions to Deputy Prime Minister Chary Gylyjov.
