President Berdymukhammedov teaches students of architectural universities to build cities

On 25 March, 2019 President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov familiarized himself with the urban development plan of Choganly residential district and discussed the project with students of architectural universities.

The state information agency TDH reports that in the morning the head of the state arrived at the presentation venue, which had been specially prepared in the residential district of Choganly.

Apart from officials and the municipal administration staffers the president was greeted by the teaching staff and students of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction and the Turkmen State Academy of Arts.

Berdymukhammedov highlighted that cottages built by the municipal khyakimlik’s office and the Ministry of Construction and Architecture on the territory of the residential neigbourhood Choganly do not fully meet the present-day architectural requirements and expressed discontent with the performance of Deputy Prime Minister Dadebai Amangeldiev and Ashgabat khyakim Shamukhammet Durdylyev.

Five projects of Choganly urban development plan, prepared by the Ashgabat khyakimlik’s office, the Ministry of Construction and Architecture, the teaching staff and students of the Turkmen State Academy of Arts and members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs were presented to the head of the state.

According to the first project, the area of the prospective construction site, scheduled to be located on both sides of Ashgabat-Dashoguz motorway, will amount to 620 hectares with 130 residential buildings which are projected to be built.

The second proposal was put forward by the Ashgabat municipal khyakimlik’s office. The urban development master plan is designed in the shape of the traditional national ornament. 663 hectares are scheduled to accommodate numerous community facilities, including 134 multi-storey apartment blocks. The total population is roughly estimated at 112 thousand.

The third project, put together by the Ministry of Construction and Architecture, envisages the total area of 720 hectares located to the east of Ashgabat-Dashoguz motorway. Some 177 residential buildings are projected to be built there with Türkmeniň ak öýi building and the observation tower being the main feature.

The fourth project was presented in three versions.According to “A” and “B” versions, the total space of the facilities will amount to 420 hectares with 102 residential houses which are projected to be built.

The population of the residential area will equal over 51 thousand.Pursuant to “C” version, the district will occupy 920 hectares where 168 multi-storey houses will be built.

After familiarizing himself with the projects prepared by the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the president emphasized the importance of rational location of all the facilities.

“Then the head of the state had a conversation with students of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction and the State Academy of Arts to find out their opinion about the urban development plan.

The students highlighted that special attention has been paid to creating the landscaped zones and that intercity motorways meet international standards”, TDH reports.

According to the news outlet, the head of the state commented on the architectural image of the buildings, which need to be taken into account during the design and development stage. The President pointed out that power lines, water supply, water drainage and sewerage systems need to be primarily built.

A white yurt Türkmeniň ak öýi is expected to be the highlight of Choganly. Similar facilities are being built in all country’s provinces.

The President also ordered holding a contest among architectures, construction workers, entrepreneurs and students with the award being presented to the finalist whose project will be used as a basis of the construction site.
