On July 4-5, 2018 Turkmenistan’s delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov paid a working visit to Geneva.
Within the framework of the visit, the delegation held the meetings with the UN Under-Secretary-General, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Ms. Olga Algaerova, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ambassador Roberto Azevedo, Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer, the UN Under-Secretary-General, Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Mukhisa Kituyi, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Francis Gurry, and with Deputy Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Ms.
Laura Thompson.
The sides raised such issues as energy, transportation, inter-parliamentary relations, promotion and implementation of international humanitarian law, attracting investments, migration, intellectual property and environment protection as well as Turkmenistan’s membership in international organizations, Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Reports.
Turkmenistan’s delegation visited the city of Aigle, Switzerland, where a meeting with David Lappartient, President of the International Cycling Union was held. The proposal to host international cycling contests in Turkmenistan was on the meeting’s agenda.
