On 3 August 2018 President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov held a Cabinet session to address the problems in Turkmenistan’s education.
The President demanded efforts be undertaken to update textbooks and review educational methodology.
Deputy Chairperson of the Cabinet of Ministers Purli Agamyradov was charged with the task of “carrying out an in-depth analysis of the education performance, including the compliance of school curriculum with the present-day requirements and undertaking measures to speed up the implementation of reforms in the aforementioned area”, the state information agency TDH reports.
On 29 April Agamyradov put forward a proposal to provide high speed Internet access to the country’s educational establishments to be reviewed by President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov.
The head of the state mentioned that “the Internet access will allow introducing state-of-the-art technologies in education and improving the quality of education”.However, the President was discontent with the quality of the proposal and instructed to finalize it.
On 22 December 2017 the Concept for improvement of foreign language teaching was presented.
On 15 September 2017 the Concept for digital education system development was adopted in Turkmenistan.
