President Berdimuhamedov Receives Newly Appointed French Ambassador

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Ambassador of France to Turkmenistan Philippe Merlin in Ashgabat on Monday, the official Turkmen media reported.

The Head of State congratulated the French envoy on the appointment to the responsible diplomatic post and wished him success in the further development of bilateral relations.

President Berdimuhamedov praised the economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and France and highlighted the contributions of French companies to the development of Turkmenistan's economy.

The sides noted information technology, oil and gas, chemical, and food industries among the priority areas of cooperation.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the good wishes and assured him that he would continue to follow the course aimed at expanding the effective and mutually beneficial cooperation that meets the interests of the two countries and their friendly peoples.

The newly appointed Ambassador of Slovakia to Turkmenistan, Victor Boreski, also started his work.
