A series of devastating landslides have occurred in the Indian state of Kerala, which claimed the lives of 143 people. According to the local health department, hundreds of residents are still missing. In connection with the tragedy, July

The natural disaster hit the region on the night of July 30, caused by incessant rainfall. Three powerful landslides brought with them streams of mud, water and uprooted trees, destroying dozens of houses. The region's infrastructure was seriously damaged: roads and a bridge were destroyed.
The rescue operation is complicated by the inaccessibility of the affected areas and the difficult terrain. Local residents, professional rescuers, military personnel and dog handlers with service dogs are involved in the search and rescue operations. Air force aircraft have been brought in to expand the search area.
