Pianist Bakhar Annadurdyeva Gives Solo Performance at Music Conservatory’s Big Hall

Pursuing a chosen path to extraordinary mastery’ this is how pianist Bakhar Annadurdyeva’s personal credo can be described.Bakhar was born into a famous artistic family and followed in the footsteps of her mother, Abadan Goshaeva Annadurdyeva, who has been a teacher at the Turkmen National Music Conservatory for 40 years; her grandfather, Kosha Japarov, is an outstanding ballet master, and her grandmother, Kurbangul Melyaeva, is a renowned painter.

The girl’s future was predetermined from the moment of her birth. But what to choose: pointe shoes, an artist easel or piano?Bakhar followed the example of her mother and entered Special Boarding School at the Turkmen National Music Conservatory.

After finishing boarding school, Bakhar continued to polish her piano skills in the USA: first at Interlochen Center of the Arts in Michigan, and then at Ball State University in Indiana.

In 2009, Bakhar was privileged to be taught in France by world-renowned pianist Dina Yoffe.During all these years, she successfully combined her studies with her piano recitals, having also won prestigious music competitions.

Bakhar Annadurdyeva was lucky enough to be mentored by talented teachers; this helped her to develop her own expressive and graceful piano playing style and stand out with her originality of interpretation.

At present, a teacher at the Turkmen National Music Conservatory (the Piano Department), Bakhar Annadurdyeva generously imparts a great deal of knowledge to her students.Alongside with that, Bakhar participates in themed music programs organized by the Conservatory.

She has now given her first solo performance. The Conservatory’s Big Hall was overflowing with professional musicians and music lovers, well acquainted with the talented Turkmen pianist’s work.

Bakhar opened her concert with Johann Sebastian Bach’s Capriccio on the Departure of his Beloved Brother.Delicate touches of the grand piano keys by the pianist’s fingers, soft shifts of tones, and change of mood...

Notably, this is Bach’s only piece written for clavier.Bakhar’s dazzling performance received a rousing welcome from the audience. The solo recital was continued by The Sea and Seagulls by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

It was performers who gave this name to the piano piece; the composer originally named it Etude-Tableau, Opus 39, no. 2.Once Bakhar touched the keys, it was clear why musicians gave such a poetic name to the etude: the pianist masterly imitated a splash of waves and a scream of seagulls.

Among the masterpieces played at the solo recital is Theme and Variations by Nury Khalmamedov. This is one of the most difficult piano compositions by the composer, and perhaps, that is why it is performed rarely.

The intense emotional palette of the great Turkmen composer’s work expresses a distinctive character and extraordinary rich intonation patterns of national melodies.Thunderous applause from the audience was both a tribute to the memory of the prominent composer and the expression of admiration for Bakhar’s talent. - Every performance of the renowned composer’s compositions is a personal interpretation, - said Bakhar Annadurdyeva in an interview, - therefore, a musician is totally responsible for communicating the emotions, getting the message across and capturing the melodic nuances.

Then, as if in conformation of her words, the pianist performed Jeux d'eau (Play of Water), one of the best piano pieces by the French composer, Maurice Ravel. Its wide range of tones and a rich array of sounds make listeners conjure up fantastic mosaic of poetic images.

The concert program also included compositions by Frederic Chopin, Nikolai Medtner, and George Gershwin.Sincere emotions and a round of hearty applause were the best rewards for the performer.

Beautiful bouquets of flowers highlighted the event’s lyrical note. The solo recital contributed to growing numbers of Bakhar’s fans and offered an opportunity to get to know better a wide spectrum of her piano repertoire and one more side of the pianist’s musical talent she performs all pieces from memory.
