Within the framework of preparation for the Paralympic Games Paris 2024, Ashgabat held the championship of Turkmenistan in para powerlifting among people with disabilities. The electronic newspaper Türkmen Sporty reports about this.
The National Paralympic Committee of Turkmenistan with the support of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy of the country organized the tournament.
It is noted that, based on the results of the competition, candidates for the National Para Powerlifting Team for 2022 were selected and the strongest athletes were selected to participate in the Open European Para Powerlifting Championship Tbilisi-2022.
At the same time, the Georgian competitions are a mandatory qualifying competition of the 2nd stage of selection for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games in this sport.
According to Yusup Jafarov, Secretary General of the NPC of Turkmenistan, the leaders and real contenders for obtaining the right to participate in the Paralympic Games Paris-2024 are the masters of sports of Turkmenistan of international class, repeated winners and prize-winners of international competitions Sergey Meladze and Mayagozel Ekeyeva, representing the Sports Center for Persons with Disabilities opportunities of the National Paralympic Committee of Turkmenistan.
