President Gurbanguly Berdymukahmmedov has been informed that abundant supplies of groceries have been delivered to Turkmen markets.
Cotton seed oil, which is now in short supply, was supplied to some state-run retail outlets in barrels. However, it is still not available for sale, now for technical reasons.
As cold weather set in in Turkmenistan and the outside temperature in Ashgabat dropped down to below zero degrees, the oil thickens and it is impossible to pouring it, according to correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”.
Following the habit, people come to the state-run stores in the market “Gundogar” located in the 11th residential district to buy oil at a low price of 2,60 manats per liter.
However, shop assistants open the taps of the barrels to demonstrate that the frozen oil does not leak. The day temperature is not warm enough to heat the oil to the required condition.
Before the cold weather was recorded, customers had been required to bring oil packagers or buy 1.5 liter plastic bottles at 0.5 manats.
When we managed to withdraw cash from ATMs, shop assistants requested making payments with bank cards but there was no cash left. Now the cold weather set in and we have been left without oil, an outraged female customer said.
“Chronicles of Turkmenistan” has previously reported that in mid November the oil was supplied to the shopping centre “Gulistan” but the administration prevented shop assistants from accepting cash and said that from now on customers were obliged to make payments only with bank cards.
