The OSCE Center in Ashgabat, jointly with the Office of the Coordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities (OCEEA), organized a seminar on institutional and legislative measures to combat corruption in Ashgabat, Trend reports referring to the OSCE Center in Ashgabat.
The event brought together representatives of different ministries and state bodies, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and Economics, the Ministry of National Security, the Ministry of Justice, the Central Bank, and the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Experts from Latvia and Lithuania described international standards and best practices in developing anti-corruption legislation and international and inter-agency co-operation in the fight against corruption.
The speakers also discussed tools and mechanisms for the retrieval of embezzled funds and their compensation, and best practices for good governance in state procurement.
“The fight against corruption is a key area for law-enforcement and other government bodies, which will aid the development of the local business climate and improve security,” said Natalya Drozd, head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat.
Following the speeches, a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs presented an overview of the Turkmen national anti-corruption system.
