Opening of Kent State Branch in Turkmenistan Explored in U.S.

A Turkmen delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Education Atadurdy Atayev, met on Wednesday with Kent State University President Todd Diacon. A key topic of discussion was the establishment of a Kent State University branch in Turkmenistan, for which the Turkmen side has already prepared a roadmap.

According to Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Education, three memorandums of understanding were signed during the talks with the International University for Humanities and Development, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction.

These agreements aim to expand educational programs, foster joint scientific initiatives, and promote cultural exchanges.

The meeting also addressed cultural events celebrating the 300th anniversary of the philosopher and poet Magtymguly Pyragy, scheduled as part of the Turkmen delegation’s visit. Special attention was given to the significance of such projects in strengthening cultural and educational ties between the two countries.

The Turkmen delegation emphasized the importance of international cooperation in education, noting that the opening of a Kent State University branch aligns with the strategy of integrating Turkmen universities into the global educational space.

On September 30, 2024, the Turkmen delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Education Azat Atayev, held a series of meetings in Washington, D.C., where cooperation on standardized testing and certification, including TOEFL, GRE, and Praxis, was discussed.
