The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries predicts an increase in the consumption of hydrocarbon energy resources to 270 trillion barrels of oil per day by 2045.
This was stated in a video message by OPEC Secretary General Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo during the International Oil and Gas Forum in Ashgabat.
According to the head of the international organization, the global demand for petroleum products will grow along with increase in population, development of industrial sectors and automotive industry.
At the moment, OPEC's activities are aimed at ensuring sustainability and stability in the area of resource extraction.
Barkindo noted that the world community should support initiatives for the transition to safe energy sources, which is the key to sustainable peace.
