On Turkmen President’s birthday V. Putin awards G. Berdymukhammedov’s grandfather with medal

Pursuant to a decree issued by President of Russia Vladimir Putin, Berdymukhammed Annayev, the grandfather of the Turkmen President, was awarded the medal “For bravery” for personal courage, bravery and valour demonstrated when defending the Motherland and discharging military duty during the Second World War.

National Security Minister Yalym Berdiev informed the head of state of the award at the government session held on 28 June.

“Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov emphasized that the award is a symbol of huge respect to our fellow countrymen brave soldiers who fought on the fronts in the Second World War and sacrificed their lives for peace all over the world”, — the state information agency TDH reports.

Berdymukhammed Annayev is President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov’s paternal grandfather;

President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov has authored two books devoted to his grandfather: “A good reputation is indestructible” and“The grandson who made his grandfather’s dream come true” based on which a stage production was made;

The military school was named after Berdymukhammed Annayev;

In October 2017 the Presidents of Russia and Turkmenistan exchanged awards.

President Berdymukhammedov awarded President Putin with the order “Hyzmatdaşlygy ösdürmäge goşandy üçin” (“For contribution to the development of partnership”), established two days earlier.In response, President Putin awarded Berdymukhammedov with the Aleksandr Nevsky order.
