Turkmen capital hosted opening ceremony of the 55th session of the Asian Pacific Broadcasting Union General Assembly (ABU).
Exhibition giving the opportunity for TV and Radio companies and producers of specialized equipment as well as company providing satellite communication services, training seminar of the managers, session of working groups in particular directions including in Sport, radio broadcasting, strategy and planning as well as technical commission and other were held in Yildyz Hotel on the days prior the opening of the forum.
The participants shared the opinions on the subjects of programme exchange, use of modern equipment and advanced technologies in TV and radio broadcasting.Representatives of Turkmen mass media addressed at the session dedicated to sport highlighting.
Technical and creative capabilities of Turkmen media groups in highlighting of big sport events have been presented.Presentation of 2018 World Weightlifting Championship in Ashgabat on October 28 November 10 was held in this context.
The 7th annual women forum Women With the Wave and series of master classes, which are the part of the ABU forums “ Broadcasting for all: Gender equality and variety in mass media”, took place on October 2.
The event was aimed at the consolidation of efforts in involvement of women in mass media and expansion of their rights and capabilities.In this regard, the role of International Women Mass Media Fund (IWMF) specialized in improvement of women status in mass media and on support of women journalists by wide spectrum of programmes has been highlighted.
Opening of the forum in conference hall of Yildyz Hotel was forestalled by the performance of Turkmen folk musicians and choreographic ensemble.
Members of the Government, managers of Turkmenistan State Committee for Television, Radio ad Cinematography, national mass media, profile faculties of universities as well as journalists of foreign news media accredited in our country took part in the ceremony from Turkmen side.
It was highlighted in the greeting message that organization of the 55th session of the Asian Pacific Broadcasting Union General Assembly in Ashgabat is thought to be another evidence of growing authority of Turkmenistan, which pursues constructive foreign policy strategy of peace making and creativity.
It was mentioned that new horizons were opened for TV and Radio broadcasting sphere owing to large-scale reforms initiated and led by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Wide opportunities appeared after the launch of TürkmenÄlem 52°E satellite. Today, Turkmen TV channels are broadcasted in full-HD format and they have modern equipment of 4K format.
Importance of further development of international cooperation in political, economic, cultural spheres and in mass media fields has been noted.
Special video about realization of the strategy of social and economic development of Turkmenistan as well as about the importance of the policy of progressive reforms held under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was demonstrated to the participants of the ceremony. The video reflected the achievements on protection of historical and cultural heritage, development of Turkmen capital, etc.
The building of Turkmenistan TV and Radio Broadcasting Centre, which has original architectural image, was demonstrated among the attractions of white-marble Ashgabat.
As is known, new centre was opened on the days of celebration of the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan Independence on October 17, 2011. This grandiose engineering and technical facility was built in the south of Ashgabat on the ridge of the Kopetdag mountain. The Centre is built in the shape of huge octagonal star of Oguzkhan.
Located at 1020 meters altitude, the centre is one of the highest in the world by its location above the sea level.Its height together with antenna is 211 meters.
This 38-meter antenna meets the most advanced technologies in the world and gives opportunity to broadcast in analog and digital format.The radius of coverage of the signal is 100 kilometres.
Shortly after the opening, TV and Radio Broadcasting Centre Turkmenistan was entered to the Guinness Record Book.Representatives of the Guinness World Record Book have recognized huge octagonal star of Oguzkhan, which decorates the centre of TV tower, as the largest architectural image of f star.
Welcoming the participants of the ceremony, Secretary General of Asian Pacific Broadcasting Union Javad Mottagi expressed the gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for support in organization of regular session of the ABU General Assembly o high level and hospitality rendered in Turkmenistan.
Speaking of the importance of the forum, the guest highlighted that current meeting, which is held for the first time in Ashgabat, is to support the intensification of productive partnership between his organization and Turkmenistan, further development of TV and Radio broadcasting in the region and to improvement of cooperation between its all participants as well as with TV and Radio broadcasting companies of the world.
Having highly appreciated large-scale changes in development of mass media of our country, Mr.Mottagi mentioned huge role and personal contribution of the Head of the State to this process.
In this regard, the Secretary General of the Asian Pacific Broadcasting Union has voiced the decision of the organization to confer President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the certificate, award and commemorative sign for outstanding input to the development of mass media in the region.
President of Asian Pacific Broadcasting Union Supriya Sahu has also addressed the gratitude for high-level organization of the metign in Ashgabat to the Head of the State.Welcoming the participants and guests of the forum, she noted that the session of the ABU General Assembly in Ashgabat is of special pride as many big international event aimed at universal peace and progress have been held in this city.
Our common goal is to solve global issues in broadcasting, which acquires special importance taking into account the development of latest technologies and the role of mass media in modern world, Supriya Sahu highlighted.
Spokespersons were unanimous in the evaluation of high efficiency and partnership between Turkmenistan State Committee for Television, Radio and Cinematography and the Asian Pacific Broadcasting Union, which member the State Committee is from 2012.
In this regard, successful cooperation during organization of live broadcasting of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and other big international competitions has been noted.The fact that regular exchange of informational, analytical materials about political, economic, social, cultural and humanitarian life of our country and the states of Asian Pacific region, exchange of practice in improvement of qualification of mass media personnel, etc.
under the cooperation between Turkmenistan and the ABU has been stated with delight.
Generally speaking of the importance of current meeting, the participants expressed the confidence that the forum would support the establishment of professional contacts, spread of advanced information and communication technologies as well as would allow developing new formats of partnership between the members of the ABU.
After official part of the opening, the forum has continued its work.Summing up of the results of work and definition of perspectives for coming period, topical directions of further development of cooperation in international broadcasting including the opportunity to expand the partnership, exchange of practice in the sphere of organization of live broadcasting and other were among the subjects of discussions of the participants of the session of the ABU General Assembly.
In the end of the day, the award ceremony of the Asian Pacific Broadcasting Union to the nominees distinguished in media, making of TV and Radio programmes, production of equipment took place in the Trade and Union Chambers.
Meetings of the management and representatives of the ABU with representatives of Turkmen TV and Radio channels for discussion of priority directions of cooperation have been held on the same day.
