Netherlands' Damen Shipyards to Build Dredger at Turkmenistan's Balkan Shipyard

The management of the Türkmendeňizderýaýollary (Turkmen Sea Routes) Agency had a meeting with representatives of Damen Shipyards Gorinchem B.V. at the Agency's building on Friday. During the meeting, the parties expressed interest in cooperation in constructing dredging vessels at the shipbuilding and ship repair plant "Balkan".

According to the Agency's press service, the company's representatives noted that construction at the plant using local resources could be a more economically favourable alternative to imported vessels.

During the discussion, the Turkmen side requested a commercial proposal and information on the necessary equipment for building a dredging vessel.

In addition, interest was expressed in the potential modernisation of the Derýaýollary (River Routes) shipyard in Lebap province, which opens up new opportunities for strengthening the shipbuilding infrastructure and developing shipbuilding in Turkmenistan.

Damen Shipyards Gorinchem serves as the head office of the Damen Shipyards Group.Although Gorinchem continues to operate as a shipyard, its primary focus is the daily management of the Damen Shipyards Group.
