“Neitralny Turkmenistan” publishes the bio of Serdar Berdymukhammedov, candidate for member of the Mejlis

Turkmenistan is getting ready for the Parliamentary elections (VI Assembly of Turkmenistan’s Mejlis) which are scheduled to be held on 25 March.

The newspaper “Neitralny Turkmenistan” has published short bios of all 284 candidates running for seats in Turkmenistan’s Parliament.

One of the issues published the biography of Serdar Berdymukhammedov, the President’s son who, as of today, heads the Parliamentary Committee for Legislation and Regulations.

Radio “Azatlyk” reports that a female resident of the city of Kaka, deputy principal of municipal school №10 Oguldjeren Gurdova is Serdar’s political opponent.

According to the published bio, Serdar G. Berdymukhammedov was born on 22 September 1981 (aged 36).

From 1987-1997 he attended Ashgabat’s secondary school № 43.

In 1997-2001 did a course of study at Turkmen State University of Agriculture named after S. Niyazov and was awarded the qualification of processing engineer.

In July-November 2001 was employed as chief specialist in Foreign Economic Relations Office of Turkmenistan’s State Food Processing Industry Association.

In 2001-2003 did military service.

In 2003-2008 worked as chief specialist of the horticultural department, chief specialist of the department of non-alcoholic beer and wine industry of Turkmenistan’s State Food Processing Industry Association.

From 2008-2011 did a course of study at the Diplomatic Academy under Russian Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and holds a degree in International Relations. In the same period worked as an aide to the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation (in Moscow).

In 2011-2013 did a course of study at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy and majored in European and international security. During the same period worked as an aide to Turkmenistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (Geneva, Switzerland).

In August-December 2013 was employed as the head of the European countries section in Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 2013-2016 worked as deputy CEO of the State Agency for Hydrocarbon Resources Use and Management under the President of Turkmenistan.

In 2016-2017 worked as Chairperson of International Broadcasting Department of Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Since March 2017 he has been Chairperson of the Legislation and Regulations Committee of Turkmenistan’s Mejlis.

Nominated as a candidate for member of Parliament by Turkmenistan’s Democratic Party.
