A film crew of MTRK "Mir" arrived in Turkmenistan to shoot a documentary film about the outstanding Turkmen weightlifter - Altymurad Orazdurdyev. The film will tell about the life and career of an athlete who has achieved great success in the international arena and brought glory to his country.
Altymurad Orazdurdyev - Honored Master of Sports in weightlifting, three-time world and European champion, champion of Asia and the Asian Games.He was born in 1969 in the village of Sakarchaga, Mary province, in a family with five brothers.
In 1982, he moved to Ashgabat, where he entered a sports boarding school.Brono Abrahamyan became his coach, who revealed his potential and prepared him for performances at all-Union and international competitions.
In 1989, in Athens (Greece), Altymurad, as part of the USSR national team, became the world and European champion in the weight category up to 75 kg, and the following year he repeated his success in the category up to 82.5 kg at the world championships in Budapest (Hungary) and Europe in Aalborg (Denmark).
In 1991, in the Polish city of Wladyslawowo, he became the European champion for the third time.In 1992, A.Orazdurdyev won the CIS championship and was included as the only athlete from Turkmenistan in the United Team to participate in the Olympic Games in Barcelona.
However, at the last moment, due to the strong-willed decision of the head coach of the national team, Vasily Alekseev, he could not enter the platform.In 1993, at the world championship in Melbourne (Australia), Altymurad, already as part of an independent team of Turkmenistan, again became the world champion, setting two world records - in the clean and jerk (202.5 kg) and in the double-event (370 kg).
And in 1994 - the champion of Asia and the Asian Games in Hiroshima (Japan).
Altymurad Orazdurdyev was not only an outstanding athlete, but also a modest and kind person. He loved his Motherland, his family and his people. He also studied at the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan. In 1997, he died of kidney failure at the age of 27. He was buried in his native village of Sakarchaga.
