Travelling across the central part of Turkmenistan, you can find yourself among barchan half-grown sands with scattered bushes of saxaul.Narrow band of hills and average-height mountains stretches out in the south of Turan saddle.
Northern spurs of Paramamiz with Badhyz elevation divided by Murgab River gradually passing over to middle mountains of the Kopetdag are located in the southeast.Two separate ranges of Big and Small Balhans rise to the north from them and mountain formation of Hissar range the Koytendag with the highest peak of the country Ayrybaba (3,319 m) are in the very southeast of the country.

the Mountain range of Koetdag is the main attraction by the richness of biodiversity and beauty of natural places.Around 300 species of trees, shrubs and grasses out of 1800 growing in the mountains are endemic.

Extravagance of thorn vegetation, which make rich the xerophytic flora of Turkmen mountains, will attract your attention.Tragacanth astragalus, acantholimon, saints and dionysias are wonderful in blossom.Local residents have already appreciated the wealth of the nature they have discovered the healing features of these plants several centuries ago picking them not only for food but also for making of medicinal infusions and broths or as the dyes for carpet threads and different fabrics.
