Mosquito control app developed

A researcher Benjamin Jacob from University of South Florida has developed a unique app to kill malaria vectors.

As informs the publication vokrugsveta.ru, the new technology, using artificial intelligence algorithms, will help not only find, but also extinguish new foci of malaria. The app identified and destroyed all new mosquito habitats within a month during testing.

Also, the level of infection in recovered patients and patients with suspected malaria has significantly decreased thanks to the new development.

It took two months to get rid of the malaria foci completely. First of all, the new technology will be used to protect the population of Cambodia, Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda from outbreaks of infection. According to the app’s developer, the ability of accurately determining the foci of infection will reduce the use of insecticides.
