On October 10, a grand opening ceremony of a monument to the great Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbayev will be held in the Lachin Park in Ashgabat, Kazinform International News Agency reports.
The event will take place at the intersection of A. Niyazov and Khoja Ahmet Yasava streets with the participation of representatives of the local intelligentsia, diplomatic corps, creative associations, the Kazakh diaspora, as well as scientists and writers.
The opening of the monument is taking place within the framework of the Days of Culture of Kazakhstan in Turkmenistan, which started the day before in the capital. Residents and guests of Ashgabat already have the opportunity to get acquainted with Kazakh cinema, musical art and folk traditions.
The cultural exchange program began with the screening of the historical film “Dawn of the Great Steppe” by director A. Satayev, which tells about the heyday of the Kazakh Khanate.
The culmination of the Days of Culture will be a gala concert of Kazakh art masters, which will take place on October 9 at the Mukam Palace of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan. Famous artists will take part in the concert, including People’s Artist of Kazakhstan Ramazan Stamgaziyev and laureates of the State Youth Prize “Daryn”.
