On 8 October, 2021 a meeting bringing together Turkmen civil society activists was held in Vienna, Austria.
The participants discussed the current situation in Turkmenistan, including cases of human rights violations, the situation of Turkmen activists based abroad, the epidemiological situation (the denial of COVID-19 cases by the Turkmen authorities), corruption, interaction with international organizations, financial institutions and governments as well as a range of other topics.
Based on the outcomes of the meeting a decision was made to conduct joint monitoring of the social and economic situation in Turkmenistan, keep track of human rights violations and make a coordinated effort in responding to the latest developments.
One of the response tools, inter alia, as viewed by the participants is raising awareness of the public and collaborating with international agencies through open letters, addresses, statement and consultations.
The meeting brought together the following activists:

Ruslan Myatiyev — Turkmen.News;
Chemen Ore — Turkmenia Unite group;
Farid Tukhbatullin — the Turkmen Initiative for Human Rights;
Ruslan Tukhbatullin — “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”;
Annadurdy Khadjiev — the Turkmen Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights;
Nurmukhammet Khanamov — the Republican Party of Turkmenistan.
