Meeting of the Central Commission for holding elections and referendums in Turkmenistan

In accordance with the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, given during the meeting of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh held on February 11, a meeting of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan was held today.

The main topic was the preparation for the elections of the President of Turkmenistan in accordance with the Constitution and legislation of our country.The meeting was attended by members of the Central Election Commission, working groups established under the Central Election Commission, representatives of political parties and public organizations, and the media.

As noted, in the course of the work of the supreme representative body, the head of Turkmenistan, noting that he fully supports the opinion on the need at a new stage of the country's development to open the way to public administration for young leaders brought up in a spiritual environment and in accordance with the high requirements of modernity, announced a decision adopted for him difficult decision and intention to use his vast life and political experience as Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh.

In this regard, by the Resolution of the Mejlis Milli Gengesh, the elections of the President of Turkmenistan are scheduled for March 12, in accordance with Article 81 of the Constitution of Turkmenistan, Article 86 of the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan.

This article of the code concerns the holding of early elections.Thus, from February 14, the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums announces the start of an election campaign that includes several stages - nomination of candidates, their registration, meetings with voters, etc.
