Racers of the Malaysian motorcycle expedition Unity Expedition-London to Kuala-Lumpur-2023, following the London-Kuala Lumpur route, visited Turkmenistan. Gulshat Bakyeva, Deputy Head of the Department of Tourism of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, told a correspondent of the Turkmenportal website about their stay in the country:
This project is launched and supported by the Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry.The expedition, consisting of six motorcyclists, will travel through 16 countries and 66 cities in 66 days and arrive in Kuala Lumpur on the 66th anniversary of Malaysia's independence.
The total length of the route is 22 000 km.The main theme and purpose of the expedition is expressed in the motto "Resolve of unity to embody hope."
The team arrived in Turkmenistan from Iranian Kuchan on July 19th. That day they were in Ashgabat, where they got acquainted with the tourist sites of the Turkmen capital, visited the monuments of independence and neutrality. The guests also visited the Malaysian Embassy in Ashgabat.
Then the motorcyclists continued their route to the Mary velayat, where they visited the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Ancient Merv". The guests showed great interest in the monuments included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Along the route, the Malaysian riders also got acquainted with the natural attractions of the country.
On July 21, the motorcyclists continued on their way to Turkmenabat, from where they headed from the Farab border post to Uzbek Bukhara.
