Today, festive illumination has been lighting up on the Main New Year tree of the country, installed near Alem Entertainment Center of the capital.
Before that, according to tradition, Ayaz Baba and Garpamyk Turkmen Santa Claus and Snow Maiden arrived in Ashgabat. They entered the city from the Kopetdag Mountains on a smart phaeton drawn by a white horse.
And then they were given a convertible car, and they continued their journey around the capital, greeting passers-by.
A bright double-decker bus with children participants of the Ayaz Baba meeting was a kind of cortege.
So the procession reached the square with the Main New Year tree and decorations around it.
Here the guests were also met by children who prepared a costumed performance.
The children ask Ayaz Baba and Garpamyk to light the New Year tree and as if by magic, they light up it to friendly applause.
The New Year tree is 41 meters in height, and thousands of meters of led garlands enveloped it from bottom to top. During the day, it will shine with colorful balls, silver and gold tinsel, and in the evening it will glow with a bright emerald against the background of the Ferris wheel with its colored outline.
Today, the New Year tree lighting ceremonies were held across the country.
