Silkworm farmers of Lebap province successfully delivered 1,060 tons of silk instead of the planned 1,010 tons, the official Turkmen media reported on Friday.
This year more than 21 thousand silkworm breeders were engaged in silk production in the province.
Silkworm farmers from the Kerki district delivered 85 tons of raw materials to the state and from the Khojambaz district - 100 tons. In Danev district this figure exceeded 140 tons and in Sayat - 185 tons. The tenants of the Chardjev district showed the highest result in the province delivering more than 261 tons of valuable raw materials.
Collected cocoons are dried at reception points and at the end of the season are sent to the silkworm farms of Turkmenistan for processing.
