Lebap combats locust outbreak by sprinkling fields with the help of tractors and crop dusters

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that agricultural aircraft were deployed in Lebap velayat to combat the locust attack and each etrap was provided with two tractors to sprinkle pesticides in wheat fields.

The chemicals have been purchased in Uzbekistan and are stored in warehouses in Magdanly.

Residents of Keitendag (formerly Charshangin district) and Dovletli etraps bought a 5 liter can of pesticides at 350 manats to protect their plots of land against the locust attack.

Inhabitants of the villages of Khalach and Kerkin etraps are using herbal infusion with pepper and sulphuric acid to sprinkle their vegetable gardens.

Let us recall that the locust invasion is expected to hit Central Asia.

During the Cabinet session held on 29 May, 2020 President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov charged Deputy Prime Minister overseeing agriculture Esenmyrat Orazgeldiev with the task of deploying the available services to combat the pest invasion.
