Kiyanly Polymer Plant’s Output Exceeds 69 Thousand Tons

The Kiyanly Polymer Plant in Turkmenistan’s western province of Balkan produced 56,985 tons of polyethylene and 12,250 tons of polypropylene in the first seven months of 2022.

Polymer products produced at the gas chemical complex are shipped to Russia, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Switzerland, the Marshall Islands, China, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, the official Turkmen media reported on Thursday.

In September 2013, Türkmengaz (Turkmen Gas) State Concern signed an agreement with Korea’s LG International Corp, Hyundai Engineering and Japan’s TOYO Engineering on the construction of a gas chemical complex for the production of polyethylene and polypropylene.

Based on the agreement, a gas chemical complex construction project was completed in Turkmenistan with a total value of over $3.4 billion.

The plant, which was commissioned in October 2018, annually processes 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas to produce 386 thousand tons of high-density polyethylene and 81 thousand tons of polypropylene.

The residual volume of natural gas from the production of raw materials, which is 4.5 billion cubic meters, is sent to the gas pipeline system in order to be used as fuel.
