President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to visit Turkmenistan at a convenient time for them, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen government.
The proposal was voiced during a meeting in Ashgabat with the Minister of State, Member of the Council of Ministers, Prince Turki bin Mohamed bin Fahd Al Saud, and the vice chairman of the board of directors of the Saudi Fund for Development Khalid bin Sulaiman Al-Khudairy.
The continuing interest of Saudi Arabia in strengthening and expanding many years of fruitful cooperation with Turkmenistan was emphasized, according to the Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary (TDH) state news agency.
The head of state invited partners from Saudi Arabia to consider implementing joint projects in the oil and gas sector, the chemical industry and agriculture. The expediency of holding regular business meetings and business forums was also emphasized.
Ashgabat and Riyadh established diplomatic relations in 1992.The first official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Saudi Arabia was made in April 2007, during which a general agreement on cooperation was signed.
The two countries are looking into establishing partnership in the field of the fuel and energy, cement production, as well as in the field of agriculture, including livestock, and grain cultivation.
