On 7 July, in the course of the Cabinet session, President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov expressed extreme discontent with the results of the wheat harvesting campaign.The website “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” reports that this year slightly over a million tons of wheat has been harvested this year.
This is considerably lower than the target plan established by the state.None of the velayats fulfilled contractual obligations.
At the same time, two weeks earlier the above mentioned media outlet reported on the accomplishments of the wheat harvesting campaign.
On 26 June it was announced that 1 million tons of wheat had been harvested. “This accomplishment gives confidence that grain farmers will harvest wheat crops without any loss and will deliver 1 million 600 thousand tons of high quality grain to the Motherland’s coffers”, “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” reported.
“The reason behind the poor results is that khyakims of velayats and etraps, executives of farmers’ associations failed to properly organize the campaign and efficiently use water and land resources”, the state information agency TDH quotes the head of the state.
Severe reprimands with the final warning were issued to the following officials for poor performance of work-related responsibilities and failure to ensure the fulfillment of contractual obligations in wheat harvesting:
khyakim of Akhal velayat Tangryguly Atakhallyev;
khyakim of Balkan velayat Satlyk Satlykov;
khyakim of Dashoguz velayat Mammet Bairamgulyev;
khyakim of Lebap velayat Charygeldy Charlyev;
khyakim of Mary velayat Byashim Annagurbanov.
Moreover, the President reprimanded Deputy Prime Minister Esenmyrat Orazgeldiev for failure to ensure the fulfillment of contractual obligations in wheat harvesting.
TDH reports that while addressing Deputy Chairpersons of the Cabinet of Ministers overseeing velayats as well as the heads of the regional administrations, the President instructed to thoroughly analyze the performance of the etrap khyakims who did not fulfill contractual obligations in wheat harvesting this year and draw relevant conclusions.
