On April 16, the International Round Table “Magtymguly Fragi the Great Enlightener and Thinker of the Turkic World” was held at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, the press service of the Consulate of Turkmenistan in Kazan told Turkmenportal.
The event was attended by the President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Professor Rifkat Minnikhanov, employees of the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Russia (Kazan) headed by Consul General Guych Garayev, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Chinar Rustemova, Turkmen and Tatarstan scientists, writers, poets and literary critics, as well as consuls general of Turkey, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan accredited in Kazan.
Before the start of the round table, an exhibition of Turkmen cultural heritage was held, where elements of national clothing, musical instruments and books dedicated to the history and culture of the Turkmen people were presented.
The event touched upon the topics of Magtymguly’s common worldview and his universal goals, the global significance of the poet’s manuscripts, the humanistic ideas of the Turkmen thinker, as well as his work in the context of Tatar historical and cultural thought.
Special attention was paid to his role in strengthening friendly ties between the peoples of those times through the use of cultural diplomacy, which was expressed in his works.
The speakers noted the extremely high significance and role of the Turkmen poet in Tatar culture and literature.In this context, Tatarstan scientists reported on the advisability of considering the possibility of erecting a monument to Magtymguly Fragi in Kazan and a monument to G.
Tukay in Ashgabat.
The event ended with Magtymguly Fraga’s poem “Gözel sen” (Beauty), which was read by Turkmen student of the Kazan (Volga) Federal University Roza Begaliyeva in Turkmen, Russian and Tatar.
