Kazakhstan to Host Central Asia-Russia Summit

The capital of Kazakhstan Astana will host the Central Asia Russia summit on October 14 this year, the Kazinform news agency reported on Friday with reference to the Press Service of the President of Kazakhstan.

On the same day, a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be held under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will also chair the sixth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) on October 13. During the forum, the Kazakh President will hold a series of bilateral meetings with the Heads of State and Government, as well as with the heads of international organizations, according to the report.

The Press Service added that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will carry out state visits to Kazakhstan.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent a congratulatory message to his Turkmen counterpart Serdar Berdimuhamedov last week on the occasion of 31st anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence. The Kazakh Leader said he is convinced that the upcoming state visit of Turkmen President to Kazakhstan will give a qualitative boost to the further development of cooperation between the two countries..
