On 3 May 2017 a working visit of the first Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Akar Mamin to Turkmenistan was held. Mamin met with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov and participated in the 9th session of Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan intergovernmental commission on economic, research, technical and cultural cooperation.
Tengrinews reports that in the course of the meeting with President Berdymukhammedov prospects of cooperation between the countries in all areas of trade and economic relations were on the agenda.
The sides highlighted that efforts to boost the growth of bilateral trade, which had a turnover of $283,5 billion in 2016, need to be intensified.
During the session of the intergovernmental commission, the sides discussed the project to manufacture space vehicles for Turkmenistan and training of specialists for the airspace industry, the establishing of the border trade zone in Mangystau region and Balkan velayat and cooperation in the framework of the International Aral Rescue Fund.
Based on the results of the session the relevant protocol was adopted.
Moreover, preliminary agreements were reached with regard to participation of Kazakhstan’s companies in the construction of the section of the motorway Ashgabat — Afghan border, in modernization of the section of the railroad Turkmenabat Mary stretching 243 kilometers (31,6 thousand tons of rails and track switches), as well as in modernization of the track welding manufacturing facility in the city of Farap and carriage repair facility in the city of Serdar.
Let us recall that on 18 and 19 April the Turkmen President paid an official visit to Kazakhstan.
